Hi this is the comprehensive guide to a therapeutic conversation with someone you meet online!
Someone can relate to my existential crisis
talk to them ever again. Omegle. Just open up. Dont ask for their kik.
The process of making a map and the result,
My maps strange to me, ive not often allowed a projects reason or hypothesis to be changed throughout the process. I mean I began with a preconception that shifted and changed according to what i was testing. I mean when I began with online therapeutic conversations I had to consider if the anonymity played a large role in my preconception so It was enjoyable to allow the research to guide me but damn it left me with no time or vision with a final concept. Im not sure if the final result was that important to me in the end. The process along the way was what was most engaging. The topics I could choose where hard to resonate with and I felt like I choose Powerplay because I had this very strong idea it would be something else for me. The Hotglue shows this, I really did my own thing and enjoyed the process.
Reflections on your topic and what you learned
My topic began as something surround subverting audience expectation. I didnt do anything grandiose to refer to the people I engaged with as an audience but I certainly made my mark on those I spoke with the longest. I resonated with the mental health issues many spoke of and If anything it solidified where I used to be inside my head and where its going is much more positive.
Mention what you bring with you (skills, method...) to your Major
I would say approaching a concept from all manor of angles is a strong suit to animation. I went as far as taking a stance on where my research might lead me surrounding this topic based on Metamodernism. Im familiar with the reverberations it has within sub cultures and social online groups. I didnt have the inclination to blend what i discovered into something big and final, I mean if the essence of a social practice could be to allow the process you were involved in have its effect on your actions and words to come Id rather that than some big finally final piece.
Reflect on how the map helped to do research and communicate it.
As clear as I layed out my Google Doc/Hotglue out it was really nice to be able to refer back to what Id written so far to remain inspired. Its a visual diary in my eyes. I like hotglue very much however it can be a massive pain to use, not being able to login to your account just floors your flow. I dont know if Hotglue should be a requirement. But yes in conclusion a map takes you on a more rewarding journey than much of the other methodologies to beginning a work.
